Wallpaper Instead of Tiles
The bathroom is almost the only place in the apartment where wallpaper is usually not used. But this is in vain!
This detail alone is capable of giving the room a more comfortable and habitable look.
Not only that: if the wallpaper starts to get boring, it will be much easier to replace it than even cheap tiles or paint.
A compromise option is tiling in the wettest areas (near the bath or shower) and wallpaper on other walls.
Or, the wallpaper can be glued only to the middle of the wall, and the lower half can be covered with a moisture-resistant material.
Not daring to have a wallpaper? Pay attention to waterproof paint or plaster.
The main thing is to add at least something to the standard tile that is a well-worn bathroom detail.
Using Wood Texture
Perhaps, wood floors used to be contraindicated in bathroom interiors, but those days are gone.
Today it is not only a decorative but also a practical solution.
Factories produce floor coverings from moisture-resistant wood species (primarily teak and larch), cover them with special protective compounds, so there is no need to worry about the safety of such a floor.
By the way: Many brands offer ceramic floor tiles and porcelain stoneware, almost completely imitating wooden boards.
Think About the Furniture From Another Angle
If we want to give the bathroom interior a more cozy and homely look, it is worth paying attention to the cabinets, which look like ordinary furniture for other rooms.
Let the countertop sink sit on top of a dresser or cabinet made of wood. Set up bookcases if space permits.
Let the mirror be in a normal “living” frame. And no need to nod at the lack of meters – a mirror is hung in a bathroom of any size.
Tip: A cozy armchair will turn any bathroom into a boudoir – this is definitely an object that you don’t expect to see here!
Here you can throw clothes or fold towels; sit in it while the bath is being filled, or do make-up in the morning.
And if the option with an armchair is only suitable for spacious bathrooms, then a small stool will fit almost anywhere.
Advice: furniture that is not afraid of dampness is outdoor or garden furniture.
Plastic or painted metal models with plastic protective pads on the legs are suitable (after all, puddles on the bathroom floor are inevitable).

You Can Hang the Chandelier
A modest light fixture, pressed against the ceiling, it seems to us, gives enough light and visually takes up almost no space.
That’s right, but why not add some sparkle? An elegant chandelier will come in handy not only in the living room, but also in the bathroom.
This is not necessarily a multi-tiered structure with crystal pendants in five rows: there are also very compact types of it.
In the end, if you have a typical bathroom with a lowered ceiling level, hang a miniature sconce instead of a traditional chandelier – just from the ceiling.
Raising the Curtain
The shower curtain in the bathroom is just as important as the curtains in the living room.
Down with the oilcloth sticking to the body – find an elegant curtain. Modern models are sewn from fabrics with moisture-proof impregnation and they cannot be denied in practicality.
You can also experiment with hanging. For example, instead of one canvas, hang two so that they move to the sides, like real curtains, and are fixed with grabs. You can complement the composition with a lambrequin.
Create an Art Gallery
Painting or poster in the bathroom? Why not! Of course, there is no place for real works of art in the bathroom due to the high humidity, but even reproductions on canvas or correctly printed photos will make the bathroom look more like a room.
Add Greenery
Even if all the window sills in the apartment are filled with flower pots, it usually does not occur to us to take the plants to the bathroom.
On the one hand, there is a reason for this – most city apartments have no windows, and flowers need light.
On the other hand, there are shade-loving plants that are quite capable of living for some time in a room without windows.
They just need to be brought out periodically. And let’s not forget about cut flowers – you can change bouquets to suit your mood at least every other day.
Arranging the Library
Although paper books have recently largely replaced smartphones and tablets, many still prefer to lie down in a bubble bath with a volume of their favorite writer in an old-fashioned way.
Do you like reading in the bathroom? Create comfortable conditions for this – organize a rack or at least a shelf for books.
Just remember to ventilate the room and periodically change the contents of your mini-library so that the books do not get damp.
We Hide the Technique
Contemplation of the washing machine can help us to comprehend Zen, but that is not our goal.
The bathroom will not look like a room with household appliances in plain sight.
So, if possible, we “hide” the washing machine – in the closet, if the area of the bathroom allows, or in the cabinet.
Tip: You can cover the washing machine without buying furniture: use an ordinary screen or roller blind lowered from the ceiling.
