Why It’s Important to Replace Your Old Plumbing
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Whether your plumbing is old or new, it’s important to check them regularly to make sure that there are no leaks. This is especially true with old plumbing as it can cause a lot of damages to your home.

Remember that problem piping can lead to a lot of stress and plumbing emergencies when you least expect them. Therefore, replacing your old plumbing is a good idea so that you can have peace of mind.

This page explains why it’s important to replace your old plumbing.

Unreliable Plumbing

You may be forgiven if you think that you can always rely on your plumbing. Ideally, you expect that you can simply go to your sink, turn it on to get running water.

However, if you have problems or deteriorating piping, it can be just a matter of time the plumbing turns to be unreliable and ends up with water line bursts. “In that sense its better to contact your local plumbers such as Fluenta Plumbing.”

In the past, many homes had plumbing systems that used galvanized steel, but this could clog and corrode. This type of plumbing is unreliable and can lead to your home not having running water.

Unfortunately, these problems tend to come when you need running water at most. This is the reason why you must consider replacing poly and galvanized piping.

Frequent Leaks

If you’re already experiencing regular leaks, perhaps you know that it can be expensive to do repairs. Sporadic leaks can cause regular leaks in your system, so replacing the system makes sense.

While it can be expensive to replace the entire system, it may also save you tons of money in the long run. This is because regular repairs can add up to cost you a lot over time.

When it comes to an old home, it may have gone through extensive plumbing repairs. However, such repairs are usually temporary unless you replace the plumbing with new piping.

Once you leave a problem or old piping in your home, you need to know that it’s prone to leaks.

The Age Factor

It’s crucial to understand the types of pipes you are using in your home and their lifespan. Even better, you need to know the condition of these pipes at all times.

Well-maintained pipes can last long compared to poorly maintained ones or even those that get in touch with hard water.

You see, when you know the age and condition of these pipes in your home can allow you to take the necessary measures to prevent leaks, flooding, and even some potential health hazards.

Water pipes that are made of brass can last between 40 and 70 years.

And, water pipes with galvanized steel last at least 20 to 50 years, copper water pipes last 50 years, and concrete and cast iron pipes can last at least 75 to 100 years.

Above all, polyvinyl chloride drain pipes can last indefinitely and cross-linked polyethylene can last just about 40 years.

Remember that polybutylene pipes can be extremely susceptible to breakage, so you need to replace them regularly regardless of their age.
