If you are redecorating your home or decorating a home for renters, you want the furnishings and decor to be comfortable and fashionable. When you have a home furnished with the latest design trends, you will increase your property’s resale value and make it a fabulous and impressive place to visit. According to Dara Agruss Design, a few design styles are trending for 2024.

  • 1 White Lamps
  • 2 Social Circles
  • 3 Indigo Upholstery
  • 4 Bold Colors
  • 5 Sustainable Materials
  • 6 Scandinavian Design
  • 7 What to Look For in a Designer

White Lamps

Getting white furniture might seem a bit risky. Children with grubby hands can smudge white things up in a hurry. However, a white lamp or two can brighten up the room. It can also call attention to the design of the lamp itself. Hence, it is important not to spend a little money and get a lamp with an artful design.

Social Circles

Is your sofa pointed directly at the television? Some people simply set the couch in front of the T.V. and flank it with two chairs. The conversation circle seating configuration is coming back in 2024. A curved sofa or a sectional sofa arranged in a curve is best for this type of seating. More than one person can enjoy the sofa without feeling “boxed in.” People sitting on the couch can look at one another this way.

Adding a couple of chairs to the circle will give your guests a choice and allow more people to sit in the circle. You will need a round coffee table for such an arrangement. A good designer will select the perfect size and style of table for your living room.

Indigo Upholstery

An indigo blue chair or two will be the perfect complement to those white lamps. If you are on a budget, reupholstering a chair or two can save you a lot of money.

Blue is the color of serenity, and it never really goes out of style. It is the perfect color for an accent wall in the bedroom or for sheets and comforters. A bathroom with blue and white tile floors, indigo towels, and rugs will give you a feeling of tranquility when you are taking a long soak in the tub.

Bold Colors

If white and indigo are simply not your style, you can go in another direction and decorate with bold colors. Some designers are practicing “maximalism” in their 2024 design plans. When you visit a furniture showroom or look at design blogs online, you will see everything from vibrant shades of green to hot pink. You will see unusual patterns for wallpaper, upholstery, and tile. The layering of various textures will also be in style.

Sustainable Materials

Sustainable materials have been trending in furniture design for the last several years. The trend is expected to grow in the coming years. Not only are designers making furniture with recyclable and recycled materials, but they are also using energy-efficient lighting sources.

Reclaimed wood is in high demand, and you will see it in many tables and chairs this year. Cork and bamboo look beautiful and are considered very eco-friendly. You will see cork in many chairs and stools. Bamboo is often used as an accent on furniture. You will see it in mirror frames, headboards, and nightstands.

Scandinavian Design

When you hear the term “Scandinavian design,”  you cannot help but think of IKEA. The popular furniture chain has been providing low-priced, assemble-it-yourself furniture to millions of people for a long time, and it is a great option for studio apartments and dorm rooms.

There is far more to this clean and simple design style than just what you will find at IKEA. Scandinavian designers are constructing furniture in flowing shapes. Some of the designs look fluid with one piece flowing into another.

You will also see brighter colors in Scandinavian design than in the past. Red is featured prominently in carpets, lamps, and other accents. Prints that mimic famous works of art are also popular in Scandinavia right now. You may see an innovative take on Whistler’s Mother or a poster that looks like The Starry Night done in different colors.

What to Look For in a Designer

Look for a designer who has plenty of experience and offers you references up front. Ask to see their portfolio and make sure you have similar aesthetic sensibilities. Ask about the relationships they have with local designers and ensure they can work within your budget.

You should hire your designer now. The most talented people will be all booked up by the beginning of the year.
