1. Tile Flooring

Due to its adaptability and resilience, there is a very high demand for tile flooring.

You can install it in any environment without worrying about stains, water, or odors.

It would be best if you contracted tile suppliers and installation experts like Amber to help you professionally lay your tiles.

Factors to Consider When Selecting Tile Floors

  • Water absorption rate: Clay tiles can absorb up to 10% of their weight, while the best stone tiles shouldn’t have more than 2.5%
  • Quality and thickness of glaze: Bright-colored tiles don’t quickly wear out in high-traffic areas

Features of Tile Floors

  • Easy to clean and maintain due to their ability to resist stains, dirt, and odors
  • Their durability makes them perfect for high-traffic areas
  • They come in different shapes, sizes, colors, and designs

2. Hardwood Flooring

Hardwood floors are made using treated wood planks from hardwood trees like oak, maple, or walnut.

The installation is done through a technique called tongue-and-groove.

The base is easy to maintain and requires sweeping and cleaning with an approved wood cleaner and not water.

Features of Hardwood Flooring

  • Enhances the look of your home
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Strong and durable
  • Better air quality since they don’t trap dust or pollen
  • Versatility

3. Laminate Flooring

Laminate is ideal for high-traffic areas, cheap, durable, stain-resistant, and easy to maintain.

Laminate floors have four layers of material which include:

  • Back layer: It has melanin reinforcement that keeps the base strong to provide stability reinforcement and structural stability
  • Fiberboard core: Provides stability, durability, and resistance to the structure.
  • Decorative layer: This layer gives an appealing appearance to the floor
  • The wear layer is made from melamine and aluminum oxide and makes the floor resistant to wear, stains, moisture, and fading

4. Stone Inlay Flooring

This is a traditional form of flooring that gives your home a luxurious look and requires careful planning for designs, color scheme, and tone setting.

Once you have a plan in mind, select raw materials you want to use, from a range of semi-precious stones or marble.

To get the suitable gradation and shading, lay particular emphasis on choosing the stone shades.

Stone inlay flooring is suitable for any climate except for people in cold areas who may have to install underneath heating to curb the chill.

Categories of Stone Flooring

Natural stone: It’s elegant and versatile, making it suitable for use with various themes. Its features include:

  • Natural look
  • Hard-wearing
  • Low maintenance
  • Underfloor heating

Lightweight natural stone flooring: Due to its lightweight nature, lightweight natural stone flooring is suitable for large flooring. Its features include a large format that uses stone panels that reduce joint closing and enable fast installation, book-matched flooring, natural look, and hard-wearing.

Terrazzo flooring: Made from composite tiles that control chip size, material size, and color. The features include:

  • Versatile colors
  • Very hard-wearing
  • Low maintenance

5. Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl is resilient, flexible, tough, durable, slightly soft underfoot, and almost maintenance-free.

The thick vinyl with a textured surface has a stone and wood appearance that make it look natural.

Vinyl flooring is long-lasting, affordable, and water-resistant, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.

Types of Vinyl Flooring

There are two types of vinyl flooring. They include:

Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT)

It’s a multi-layered resilient flooring available in flexible and rigid vinyl planks or tiles. It offers endless design possibilities. LVT layers are:

  • Wear layer: It determines floor durability, and the thicker the layer, the more durable the floor
  • Top polyurethane treatment layer: It protects the wear and design layers from stains, scratches, and wear and tear

Vinyl Roll Flooring

It is multi-layered vinyl whose top layer is printed.

It’s available in large, continuous, flexible sheets that leave few seams when installed, making it ideal for moisture-prone areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry rooms.

Endnote

Flooring is a home improvement investment that requires you to research and budget wisely while aiming for perfect and comfortable solutions.

The tips discussed above will help you plan and choose what best suits your home.
