The Best USA State Capitals to Live in

Moving to the United States of America isn’t a difficult decision to make. It is a varied country with all manner of weather and landscapes to choose from. However, America is a big place, with fifty states to choose from. Consider the fact that Texas alone is over ten times the size of the UK, and you will start to see how varied this part of the world truly is.

That is why you can narrow down your search for the best places to live in the States by looking at some of the state capitals. City life offers you so much choice in how to live. Therefore, one of these state capitals may just prove to be one of the best places for you to live in the USA.

Contents

Madison: Wisconsin

Wisconsin isn’t a US state that many people think of when discussing the USA. It is far overshadowed by other more popular places like New York and California. However, this rural midwestern state is probably best known for its state fairs and beer.

As a result, many residents will find that Madison is the best transition city for anyone moving from the countryside to a large city. This state capital is a relaxed place with rolling fields and hillsides surrounding a busy city district. The place is famous for its livestock and cranberry production; however, many residents enjoy living in Madison for its low crime rate and safety category.

Charlotte: North Carolina

Unfortunately, North Carolina is another state that is often overlooked- especially since it also has a sister state to the south. Its former capital city is also often overlooked as it was changed to the city of Raleigh in 1792. There was even a time when Charlotte was the reason why North Carolina was known as the golden state instead of California. Fortunately, this means that the state is a quiet part of the country to settle down in.

The state of North Carolina is most known for its mountainous regions and state parks, but there is plenty more to explore in its former capital city of Charlotte. It is still known as the economic hotspot of the country, and that makes it the ideal location for those working in the business sector. It is also the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, a true part of American history. However, one of the main reasons why people are now so attracted to living in Charlotte, North Carolina is that it is a financially viable option. All you have to do is search for homes for sale at EZ Home Search for confirmation of this. Everyone can benefit from great real estate agents and a low cost of living, which is why Charlotte has become one of the best US state capitals to live.

Lincoln: Nebraska

The southern state of Nebraska is most known for featuring the great American desert. But that is not true. Just look at its capital city of Lincoln for an example of this.

Established in 1856, Lincoln was once a messy landscape full of marshland and swamps. However, some keen hard work helped transform the place into a political hub for foreign dignitaries and other important figures. Besides its political importance, Lincoln is also a great home for younger generations because of its music scene and party atmosphere, However, the Star City also has some historical significance as it takes its name from the former president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

Austin: Texas

When considering the size of Texas, you would think that it would take a lot for a single city to be named the best place to live in the state. Fortunately, that is exactly the title that has often been given to its capital city of Austen.

Austen has been given this title because of its weather and relatively low cost of living. However, Austin also has some great job opportunities for its residents. For example, the job market in Austin is always beneficial for people looking for work in the following industries:

  • Corporate business
  • Automation
  • Clean technology
  • Manufacturing
  • Sales
  • Security and defense

Boise: Idaho

Before you are able to get a job in your desired industry, though, you must first get the right kind of education. That journey all starts at a young age. That is why many young families choose to settle down in Boise, Idaho.

Boise is currently listed as the second highest-ranking city in the USA when it comes to education behind Ann Arbor in Michigan. However, the infrastructure issue present in this state denies it a placement in this list. Boise takes its place mainly because the schools across the city have received an average rating of eight out of ten. What’s more, the city is also home to six universities, with four of these prestigious colleges being private. Outside of the education sector, Boise is also known for its suburban homes and parks. S such, this capital city ranks high as one of the best places in the country to raise young kids.

Albany: New York

Mention the name New York to anyone outside of the USA, and they will most likely think that you are talking about the large city off the eastern coast. However, to many people’s surprise, New York is, in fact, a US state, one that takes up a lot of the northeast region. Contrary to popular belief, though, the capital city of this state is not Manhatten. It is instead Albany.

There is more to Albany than its proximity to one of the most iconic shopping locations on the planet, however. Albany is often credited as being one of the most affordable places to live in this part of the country. Therefore, anyone who wants a New York State address can easily secure one with a move to its state capital. What’s more, Albany is also known as a friendly place to live with a good quality of life among its residents.

Des Moines: Iowa

Iowa is another US state that often gets mischaracterized by people overseas. It is seen as a large expanse of farmland with not much to offer its residents. However, its capital city of Des Moines disrupts that stereotype.

Des Moines ranks high among places to live in the States because of the affordability of its homes. Even someone with a lower-than-average salary has a good chance of owning their property in this part of the country. On top of this, Des Moines also has a great art scene and plenty of museums. As such, it is popular among the younger generations.

Conclusion

Discussing the best state capitals to live in is tricky because it is a completely subjective experience. Fortunately, the United States of America has a lot of variety on offer. Therefore, you will never come across two cities that are exactly the same. At least one of them will meet your needs as a good place to live.
