We all know that routers aren’t usually the first thing that comes to our minds when it comes to design and aesthetics.

Unfortunately, it’s an essential component to keep us connected to the internet wherever we are in our homes.

As the internet becomes more important with each passing day, we need to know how to hide or disguise it into something that will not affect our home’s interior design.

In this article, we’ll provide you with various stylish ways to hide your router in your home.

  • 9 Final Thoughts

1. Place It Inside a Cane-front Cabinet.

The most important factor to consider before hiding your router elsewhere is that it should be in a place where it can still send out signals properly.

That’s why placing it in a cane-front cabinet is highly ideal. The thin door with tiny holes that comes with it allows for the right amount of airflow and won’t affect how your router emits its signal.

2. Place It on a Shelf.

If your home has a lot of shelves or you have a traditional interior design, you’re lucky.

Most routers fit perfectly well on most bookshelves, and it easily blends with the books with or without the faux-book spine boxes. Also, it doesn’t restrict your router from emitting signals, so it’s an excellent option.

3. Place It on a Basket With Lids.

Lidded baskets are simply one of the best inventions in the world. It can hide anything, from toys to unopened mail to any common clutter in the house. Many homeowners also use this to hide their routers.

If you prefer to use this, we recommend you avoid using fabric-lined lidded baskets as it can interfere with the signal.

If you can, find one with wooden baskets with holes on it to prevent your router from overheating, as well as allow it to send out signals without hassles. Plus, the wires can be hidden perfectly too.

4. Place It in a Wooden Crate.

There’s just something about wood furniture that makes your interior more beautiful.

If you want to keep your router in your living room, beside your TV or other shelves, you can easily place a wooden crate that can also act as a mini bookshelf.

This way, you can store your router and other books without actually affecting the design of your home.

Of course, make sure that there are enough airflow and holes on the crate so that the router from your internet provider can function without any issues.

5. Buy a Decorated Shoebox.

We all have extra shoeboxes at home, and if you don’t have any other way to hide your router, this can be an excellent option.

Just make sure that the box is big enough and has proper ventilation. You can even decorate it so that it would look like a regular decoration in your home instead of a boring old box.

If you don’t have an old shoebox at home, you can easily purchase a box from any office supply store or home goods store that comes with lids as well. It’s just important to find a box that fits the size of your router.

6. Use a Faux-book Spine Box.

This is one of the most popular options when it comes to hiding routers at home. You can purchase a faux-book spine box from any office supply store or online.

They come in different sizes and colors, so you can easily find one that will perfectly match the interior design of your home. Just place your router inside the box and close it.

The best thing about this is that you can also use it to store other things like your modem, cords, and other cables.

Plus, it’s an inexpensive way to keep your living space organized and tidy.

7. Repurpose an Empty Tissue Box.

If you have an empty tissue box at home, you can easily turn it into a router holder.

Just cut a hole on one side of the box (big enough for the cords to go through) and place your router inside. It’s a great way to recycle old materials, and it won’t cost you a thing.

You can also use this opportunity to get creative and decorate the box according to your preference. Just make sure that there’s proper ventilation so that your router won’t overheat.

8. Build a Metal Box for Your Router.

A common material for metal boxes is perforated metal.  It’s an excellent way to keep your router hidden while allowing proper airflow.

You can easily find this material at any hardware store, and it’s relatively inexpensive.

Just make sure that you measure the size of your router correctly so that it would fit snugly inside the box. Plus, don’t forget to drill holes on the side of the box for cords and cables.

Final Thoughts

These are just some of the creative ways you can hide your router at home. Feel free to get creative and come up with your own unique idea.

The important thing is that you find a way to keep your living space tidy and organized without sacrificing function and style.
