I had a large fire. My insurance company recommended Blackmon Mooring. I would rather have done the work myself. The people cleaning the insulation and ceilings threw away everything they encountered, to include money and things not damaged at all. then packers moved from one room to another without finishing anything. they put dirty ashtrays in boxes then threw away perfectly good belongings. I found them digging through jewelry on my dresser so intently that they didn’t even notice me standing 3 feet away for more than 30 seconds. They packed up rooms they were explicitly told not to go into. We had several folks claim they didn’t speak English yet one also claimed to be a veteran. You don’t get to be a Military veteran without speaking English. Some of my belongings that were perfectly fine before they showed up were totally ruined by their carelessness. Now, a month after I fired the crew, I have discovered that credit cards were stole from my bedroom while they were in my home.

Let me start by saying the team they send out to do the work are very nice and do strive to make the customer satisfied. What is disappointing about this, is they have no support from their supervisors or managers higher up. Our experience is this: November 11, 2011 I scheduled a very basic carpet clean. ( Just doing the walkways no furniture needed to be moved.) I cancelled all my appointments for this day and when they arrived, at the scheduled time, they got all set up, took my payment, and then informed me that they had left the wand at another location. Unfortunately, they would need to reschedule as it was 5pm on Friday afternoon. Good thing the event planned the next day had been postponed, I thought, as this wasn’t as urgent as it had been. All I was out was my work day, being that I’m self employed. The team was very apologetic and professional. We rescheduled for 11/23/11. A different team arrived, again very polite and professional. They began their work and after about 5-10 min I noticed that the truck that was parked in my driveway had fire coming out of the back of it. Yes, a fire was blazing inside of the truck. My house backs up to the green belt of Zilker park. Needless to day everyone who happen to drive by had stopped in the middle of the street grabbing hoses from neighbors houses as we worked on putting out this fire. This could have been disastrous! If this fire had gotten to the backyard, we could’ve had another huge fire event in the area. As fire department arrived and we had the most of the fire out. They were very grateful to all of our fast actions, as even five minutes it took for them to get there was not enough time. A furniture blanket was leaning against the engine inside the back of the truck and it caught fire. The team was able to finish this job and again very polite and apologetic. What I am upset about is that NO ONE from Blackmon Mooring Management team called to follow up on this. We waited two weeks before we sent an email to them and then a supervisor called to report he knew about the fire in the truck, but that he was told it wasn’t that big of a deal. Really? How do you not follow up with customers on both of these situations? A simple follow up call to acknowledge that you are aware of these events is all it takes. How about is there anything can we do to make this right? I’ll give him credit, he did come by the house to see me face to face. What was all that worth…15% off MY next clean. Uh..there won’t be a next clean. Two times your crew had issues and both times no one from your office every called to follow up on these events. We had to contact you to even get on the radar. If this was one incident, I’d probably not even bother with the time it takes to write this, however, I feel that other consumers should be aware of these issues. A little customer service training goes along way.

I realize the impact a negative review might have on a business so I put a lot of thought before writing this one and do not take it lightly. I called Steam-It after seeing a neighborВ’s grout and realized mine needed the same treatment to make it look as good. I gave the man over the phone all the details I knew regarding our house (square footage, rooms involved, etc) and asked if he could send someone to give me a quote. He said that it sounded like I needed their В“deep cleaningВ” and that they were running an internet special of .35/per square foot (instead of .45). He said that he couldnВ’t just send a guy to give me a quote but that heВ’d schedule for someone to come the very next day to measure and do the actual work. Johnny showed up, measured, and gave me a price for the deep cleaning. I told him I was a pretty picky customer and that I really wanted to make sure that my grout would look В“nearВ” new when heВ’d be done. He suggested I upgrade the work to an acid wash which would bring back my tile to over 90% of itВ’s original color, and then heВ’d but a sealant on top. I agreed and told him I was willing to pay now $1/sq ft more as long as he was confident that my grout would look great in the end. A big jump from .35 cents but I was willing if it meant I was getting what I wanted. Johnny even agreed to only charge me for 650 sq ft instead of the over 900 sq ft of tile I haveВ… plus NO tax he said??!! How can a business charge no tax? Johnny got to work and 90 minutes later he was done and ready to seal. В“WAIT A MINUTE! I saidВ… you canВ’t seal this grout, it looks NO different than when you started cleaningВ”. He said it would when it dried so I asked him to come back later in the afternoon when it was dry to we can re-evaluate before sealing. He came back and sure enough, no change. He THEN decides to tell me of another option to color seal the grout to make it look like my neighbors, which would now cost $2 per square foot!! WHAT?? I put the breaks on at this point and told Johnny to have his boss contact me so we can have a little discussion. Steam-It agrees to send a supervisor at this point. They showed up and agreed it was a mess and that Johnny had royally screwed up. They said that color seal is less than $1 sq ft and that is what I should have had done.-duh! We came to an agreement that I would pay an additional $620 to get the color seal done and that he would В“personallyВ” come back the following day with some guys to get it done. The next day come and the supervisor does not come as promised, but sent two other guys who knew nothing of what had happened. Regardless, they do the work and I am satisfied with the end result (Yay me!!!). When it came time to pay, I had a check written out in the amount we had agreed. The guys asked me for $50 more than we had discussed the previous day. At that point, my patience was running low and I asked for an В“itemizedВ” bill. I told then that I was happy to pay whatever was owed but that I wanted a legitimate receipt with detailed numbers at this point. I wanted to see numbers! An HOUR and countless calls to their manager later, he writes out a receipt and I pay him what he tells me I owe him. Done I thoughtВ… Nope~ wrong!! 15 minutes later, they are back at my door asking for more money!!! At that point, I kindly tell them to have their manager/owner/supervisor call my husband and that they can work it out!! IВ’m not writing them ANOTHER CHECK! Needless to say, their business practice and service was insanely bad!!! I would not recommend that anyone use Steam-It~ There has to be someone better out there!! Anyone would be better actually!!
