As for my experience with Service Master, I had some flooding in my house and all my flooring and walls needed to be cleaned and dried. Servicemaster by Cantu has tried to collect over 20 thousand dollars from me which they received from my insurance company in 2006. One year later, in the fall of 2007, they filed a lawsuit against me for the exact dollar amount which they were paid. I have a copy of the canceled check from my insurance company, yet their attorney has been pressing my attorney to set a court date. In December of 2006, my insurance company brought Servicemaster into my home after a fire. Their employees told me that everything was not able to be salvaged. I had many antiques and pieces of art. Not only did they NOT perform any of the services which they ultimately billed my insurance company for, they dropped an antique armoire and broke it, in front of my furniture specialist, and then denied it. They also lost an antique rug worth over 10 thousand dollars and denied every seeing it in the home. There were many items which they ‘lost’ and then, mysteriously ‘found’ after I pressed them. Mike Kyle, in particular, told me and my husband to get our ‘junk’ out of his warehouse and when we showed up to retrieve our many items which were not cleaned, the employees threatened to call the police and have us removed from their warehouse. Everyone there treated us horribly and told us over and over again that none of our items could be salvaged. For example, we had our antique area rug cleaned and repaired by experts, we were told that the rugs had not been cleaned. For weeks, our items sat in their warehouse without being touched. Later, they billed our insurance company over 600.00 for vacuuming. They also billed for services to my piano which were done by a person who had nothing to do with Servicemaster by Cantu. In the end, I was never paid for my losses from Servicemaster by Cantu. They had three different insurance companies contact me to pay me for the damage to my armoire and none of them came through. One even told me that Servicemaster by Cantu did not have a policy with them and had no idea why they were given my name or why there was a claim. After much time passing and frustration, their second attorney filed the suit against me without ever returning my attorney’s calls. They completely ignored the fact that my attorney possessed a canceled check from my insurance company to them and proceeded to sue me. They finally acknowledged that my insurance company paid them, they now want attorney’s fees! Why should I pay their attorney for bringing a frivolous lawsuit against me? They had been paid one year earlier! This company must be stopped! If your insurance company tries to bring them into your home, protest. Had I known what these people are and how they operated, I would never have agreed to continue with them on my remediation.

Mr. Shepard (owner) and his two kids cleaned my carpet on Labor Day 2014. After they left we realized we had $1400 that was stolen out of my wife’s jewelry box in our master bedroom closet. The closet was out of sight from our security camera and they were not caught in action, although they were the only three people to come through my house that day. Mr. Shepard denied the accusations immediately. I left a review on the business’s Facebook page and Mr. Shepard posted a picture of it on his personal page with my full name and there were close to 100 posts of people bashing me and my family. I arranged for Mr. Shepard and his two kids to take a polygraph test and set the record straight. Furthermore, I offered to pay for the tests and passed I would remove all negative reviews online. He refused. At this point, I just don’t want other people to fall trapped in my current situation.

I was supposed to have my entire house done for $129 and was charged $189. I noticed the price quote difference so I called and talked to the owner. The MOST arrogant and rude man I have ever spoken to! I asked him why they charged me extra for 2 small 4×6, simple, cotton rugs that were lay-ed over over my carpet and tile when I did not even get the carpet, a 16×16 room and the tile room cleaned. He said in a LOUD, RUDE, voice, “Because it’s my company and I set the prices for rugs!”. I have never had an owner of a business speak to me this way. He was so rude that he made me start crying which he could not understand.All I wanted was a simple answer to a question. I was not upset, angry nor did I raise my voice when I spoke to him. He did not offer any sort of remorse, apology or anything. And, I noticed that several other reviewers had the same thing to say about him. I don’t know how he stays in business with this terrible customer service. It must be the reason he has to send out the coupons with the low prices to get you hooked. Then, once they arrive, they charge you more. I will never use this company again.

Steer clear of Austin Specialty Cleaners. Last fall, a part of our house flooded with the heavy rains. A rug got wet. I work out of state right now, so my father in law came over that day and gave my wife a hand by taking the rug to Austin Speciality Cleaners. When my wife called them later to dscuss the cost of cleaning the rug, the price they quoted was too high for us. We told them “”no thanks”” on the cleaning, and said we’d just come pick it up. They said we owed them $65 for drying it, which they did to prevent any mold. We told them it would have been nice if they had told us about the charge before they incurred it, but they would not waive the fee. They did offer to my wife to deliver it if she paid the fee. My wife told them she’d call me to see if that was ok with me. We did decide to pay the fee and get the rug, but my wife never got around to calling them until this week. Was it a long delay before we called them? Yes, it sure was. Did anyone at Austin Speciality call us to tell us that they had a problem holding on to the rug? Nope. Fast forward to this week. When my wife called today, she was told that since she never called them, they just assumed we did not want it and THREW THE RUG AWAY. When she expressed how upset she was that they did that without even calling us to warn us they would be throwing the rug away, Carol (she and her husband K.C. own the company) never said “”sorry””, she just said that their receipt has a disclaimer that they’re not responsible for item left there for more then 30 days. Really, they want me to think they regularly throw their customers items away without even calling? How hard is it to give us a call and say “”please pick up your rug this week or we’re throwing it in the dumpster””? In this instance, it seems like they just failed to call, threw it away, and now fall back on a policy I doubt they’ve ever actually employed. I called Carol back. I told her that we really wished she would have called to tell us they were throwing the rug out. She trotted out the same excuse of the disclaimer. She also embarked on several other excuses, among them that the rug was thrown out bcause it was moldy, despite the fact that they had wanted to charge us $65 for drying the rug to prevent any mold. When I pointed that contradiction out, Carol then claimed the rug was moldy when we dropped it off, which it was not. When I told her that her story was now changing, Carol just hung up on me. When I called back a few minutes later to try and finish out conversation, no one would even pick up the phone. Ridiculous. Bottom line – mayber they are good cleaning rugs, I’ll never pay them a dime to find out. But they are terrible at saying “”I am sorry””, they are terrible at giving you a call before they take such drastic action as throwing your rug away, and they are terrible at customer service. I do not recommend them to anyone.

I would honestly review Al Michaels in negative stars if it were possible. I hired this company for floor installation in my home a few weeks ago. I don’t know where these men learned how to install flooring but I basically had to watch them the entire time otherwise they would have continued with their sloppy work and not have done what I had asked. In addition, they left before the job was done. I paid them for the job they had quoted for, two rooms for floor installation, and they did not finish the job. When I called to reschedule, they said that they would not, and that they would charge me a second time to complete the job that I had originally paid them to do. I would not recommend this company. I suggest prospective clients look elsewhere for flooring installation needs. Their representatives have been rude, uncooperative, and downright unprofessional. I completely regret spending one penny for this company’s services. Please save yourself the time and headache and go to a different company. Russ Miller seems to be an honest, hard-working man, but using him to clean the carpets in my rent house ended up costing me almost $4,000. Do not use Russ Miller if you or anyone who will live in the house is sensitive to chemicals. Russ did a beautiful job stretching the carpets and replacing some tack strips in three small bedrooms. He came back several days later to clean the carpets after the unit was painted. Prior to beginning his work, I asked if he used chemicals, as I had a chemically-sensitive tenant. He said, В“Just a little soap,В” and I gave the OK to proceed. The carpet looked great when he was done, but there was an intense chemical odor. The tenant and I both developed headaches if we stayed in the unit for more than a few minutes and the tenant was unable to occupy the property as planned. When I called Russ to explain the problem and ask what he had used, I was shocked when he said he had used a В“mint-scented degreasing solvent.В” A week after the carpet had been cleaned there was still a strong, chemical odor. Russ came to the house, at no cost, to rinse the carpet, but that only brought up more fumes. Ten days after the carpet had been cleaned, I had another carpet cleaning company out that used a different process. That firm went over one room seven times, and the odor got worse on each pass! They told me there was no point in proceeding and suggested that we pull back the carpet. Together we inspected the pad to find that it had been saturated with В“mint-scented degreasing solvent.В” Since the carpet could not be salvaged I ended up having to remove the carpet and pad and install laminate flooring. Total cost $3,880: $180 (stretching), $150 (cleaning that ruined the carpet and pad), $150 (removal of carpet and pad), $2500 (new laminate flooring), $900 (rent and utilities refund to tenant who could not occupy property for two weeks).

We needed a last minute maid service cleaning for our home and we did a little calling around like most people would before settling with a particular company. We must had called at least 10 different companies and their prices were way too hihg, had a weekend fee to clean on a Saturday, didn’t have English speaking employees, or just had a horrible rating/review from previous customers. While I was serving in the Army overseas, I decided it would be nice to get my wife weekly maid service to help her out since she was home with our 2 and 4 year old daughters and probably could use the help. I have never used a maid service before so I did a lot of research on the various companies in Austin. I ended up going with Krystal Klean of Austin and I’m so glad that I did. It all started with an email to Todd. Since I was 10 plus hours ahead of them in Texas, email seemed like a good choice for communication. Not to mention the long distance charges. Surprisingly, Todd got back to me rather quickly with answers to my questions, and a price. One of the things I had really wanted with this service was to be able to pay for it with my credit card. Many of the other services wanted my card information and I wasn’t too comfortable with the idea of that. Todd said that this would not be a problem and that I could pay through their web site after each visit. I set up our first appointment and moved forward. My wife was really impressed with the thoroughness of the team, and their professionalism. She had nothing but good things to say about them. I was glad to hear that the first appointment had gone off without a hitch and that my wife was happy. Since the first appointment 4 1/2 months ago, everything has been great. We’ve even had them come out and clean our carpets, our windows and power wash the sidewalk and driveway. One of the things that blew me away the most was they brought 2 toy vacuums for our daughters. The girls had been trying to help them vacuum with their big vacuums so they brought them out their own. I bought a Groupon for a whole house cleaning. My house is just under 3000 sq ft. First when trying to schedule it was a pain. Called many times never got a answer. Our experience with the Steam Team was horrible. They steal things from you. Our neighborhood tree fell on our roof on 10/23/15. When we contacted our home insurance company, they sent the Steam Team guys that evening to put a dehumidifier and help out with moving furnitures out. A week after they came back and put a tarp on the roof. We were impressed how they were prompt and good at their job until last Thursday (4:40 pm on 11/5/15). Three guys came in and they were supposed to demolish the ceiling in the damaged room but they told us that it had to be inspected further. When they left the house, I nothiced that my husband’s Nike running shoes (they were my gift for our wedding anniversary and weren’t even a month old!) were gone. The shoes were on the shelf in the entrance way and that’s where we keep all of our shoes. I filed a complaint to the company early next morning (9 am on 11/6/15) and gave them the receipt of the property. They were apologetic and said it would be under investigation and told us to keep looking for the shoes. Like I said before, we keep all of our shoes on the shelf in the living room and there’s no chance that we could have misplaced them! Since then there hasn’t been any communication from the company. I am planning on reporting this to BBB and other review sites as well. Do not trust this company!

The Carpet Pros with the phone #704-2429 advertised in the YP, BBB, IICRC Certified Technicians, No Hidden Charges & Carpet Cleaning. They would not accept my credit card or take a check. CASH ONLY! What legitimate company opperates in this manner with todays technology? They tried to overcharge me from the quoted price & added a travel charge of $25.00. I can clean carpet renting a unit from my local grocery store better than their so called Certified Technicians. I know now when a wreck of a van without a company logo or lettering & two guys without uniform or even a tee shirt with a company logo get out of the van two hours twenty minutes late, THEY ARE NOT CARPET PROS. My follow-up review will be on the carpet cleaning company I have come out & actually clean my carpets & vacumn the water & dirt THE CARPET PROS moved around & let soak deep down into my carpets. They are not rated in BBB.

I called on a Friday for an appointment. Appointment was scheduled for Tuesday morning as Monday was already full. The technician arrived earlier than I thought he would. Ben introduced himself, gave me his business card, thoroughly explained the cleaning process, and got right to work. The carpets look much better, the dirty spots are gone, and every thing just looks cleaner. I would definitely use Peace Frog again. A neighbor was happy to get cleaning information from Ben as well.

I have been using Kiwi for a couple of years with no problems but he was referred to me by someone I know and thought I’d give Patrick a try. He was very nice and professional but after he left the stains on my carpet were still there and the smell seemed to reappear. I have not had this problem with Kiwi. I had the carpets cleaned just before Christmas and contacted him about the problem then. I was going out of town for the holidays so he told me to contact him again when I returned. I e-mailed him on January 14 and got no reply. I contacted him again 10 days later and he replied that because so much time had passed he would not consider a redo, which I hadn’t yet asked for but I did expect him to come and take a look. When I forwarded him my e-mail from the 14th, he admitted he found it in his SPAM folder but told me that was still too long, even though I contacted him about the problem before I ever left town, which was prior to Christmas. He also went on to say that the problems with the stains and a couple of other more minor issues I mentioned were actually KIWI’s fault not his. He claims that the solution they use doesn’t remove stains but somehow alters their pigment so they just look like they’re gone but they really aren’t. REALLY? Wow – who knew! I’m going to research what he claims but of course, do I really care if the stains are gone or just invisible for some other reason? He had a reference from someone I trust and obviously he had thumbs up from her and other customers so needless to say, I’m disappointed – all I can say is that he didn’t get my carpet clean, plain and simple, then didn’t respond to my attempt to contact him and after additional time had passed said it was too late even though I told him there was a problem BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Instead of making any attempt on any sort of accommodation, he spent time explaining to me how his cleaning process is much better than Kiwi’s – except of course for the minor problem of course that they removed the stains and odor and he didn’t – although he says it’s actually CLEANER now even though it doesn’t look it or smell like it. I guess I’m not smart enough to understand. I guess it’s back to Kiwi and this is probably a very good example of “”if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.””

And had these guys swing thru to clean a few rooms. They are very knowledgable and even showed me places where the last company I used left a bunch of residue in the carpets. I kept having stains come back and they would tell me that I needed to replace my padding because that’s where the issue was. I spoke with Patrick and he explained once he was there that a lot of times stains come back because the carpet isn’t rinsed well enough and then dried quickly. He also said that if stains came back he would return and remove them for free. Here I am a month later with no stains and carpets that still look great. He also gave some pointers on rug placement to help keep my rugs clean. Thanks Patrick!

This company states they are good at what they do. However, you do not matter and are not considered a customer. They leave you waiting and are not considerate as to call and let you know they are not returning. They have left me waiting for three days and their excuse is that they have alot of other customers.
