What is a memory foam mattress?
A memory foam mattress is a mattress that contains foam that molds around the sleeper’s body. The foam reacts to heat in the body to change its shape. When the pressure of the body is removed from the mattress, the foam reverts back to its original shape.
Memory foam was originally designed by NASA to be used for seat cushioning for test pilots. It has since gone on to be used to make couches, beds, and chairs more comfortable for the general public looking for space-age comfort.
Some memory foam mattresses have springs as well as foam, and some are made up of support foam and memory foam. The idea is that the memory foam evenly distributes the sleeper’s body weight and adapts to the natural curves of the body
What are the benefits of a memory foam mattress?
One of the main pros of a memory foam mattress is that it provides pressure relief for the body. If a sleeper is dealing with a bad back or sore muscles, then a memory foam mattress can help as it molds to the individual’s body. It alleviates pressure points, helping ensure a good night’s rest.
Memory foam mattresses can also be hypoallergenic, meaning they’re a good choice for allergy sufferers.
