7 Home Office Setup Ideas for Transforming Your Space
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A home office is a place that should inspire the flow of creativity, productivity, and allows you to get down to business without unnecessary distractions. But, often, that’s not the case.

Some of our home offices are the most neglected spaces which are unfriendly and messy.

To spruce up the ambiance and make it more inspirational, we suggest you first pick a suitable location in the house to set-up your office, and more importantly, make sure you have a free flow of traffic. Through the room.

No doubt you need to get yourself a comfortable desk and chair otherwise you really can’t call it a home office!

A home office should have useful input of natural sunlight.

There should be no space for clutter; it should be blissful with rejuvenating colors and lastly – sturdy and comfortable furniture.

Whether you’re lucky with an entire room or just a tiny corner, if these elements are present in your home office, you’re not missing out on much.

In a few home office setups, having a small space dedicated to entertainment or reading is also essential.

This helps you treat yourself to a healthy office break during tiring work hours.

If you plan to convert or add a home office to your space, here are some of the best work from home office setup to begin with.

Take a look:

Breathe in Some Green

agreen plant is said to help keep you feeling calm and clean the air—plus it looks pretty too.

Nature has the power to bring character to space.

From potted plants in wicker baskets to hanging pots in DIY tin cans, one or two green accents should surely complete a home office ambiance.

The well-known indoor plants you can opt for are the Snake Plant – long-lasting and doesn’t require too much of your attention.

The ZZ Plant – with its tolerance to low light and the ability to grow with little water, the lucky bamboo – which also requires less sunlight and can grow without soil.

Throw Some Art Around

Another home office interior design idea that can make you want to work those extra hours is the addition of art and a gallery wall.

We suggest you decorate with art that speaks to your soul.

Even if you’re crunching numbers all day, fill your office with vibrant art to energize your space and make you feel motivated at your home office.

Let the Light in

We propose that you always stay connected to the great outdoors. Allowing natural light to your home office will make space feel and look expansive.

Moreover, a recent study conducted by Dr. Alan Hedge of Cornell University’s Department of Design and Environmental Analysis has confirmed other benefits.

Of natural light in the workspace: it improves your mood, reduces eye strain, prevents drowsiness, and doesn’t allow you to make mistakes.

To add more depth to a room with natural light, walls coated with a natural color like blue, green, and yellow will balance the space and brighten the area.

Work Your Way Through Color.

Choose colors that speak to you and not what’s trendy.

In a home office setup, the walls, shelves, and ceiling in one hue will make the room feel larger.

You can spruce up the environment with pops of color, such as a bright cabinet or a jewel-toned pouf, or an armchair.

This pop of color added to a home office interior design will ensure that your inspiration and motivation levels increase.

Optimize Your Home Office

Did you know that organization is critical, so make sure you use every trick in the book?

Nobody works well in a messy home office. Agree? So, don’t waste an ounce of space by tucking printers, filing, etc., into corners and in drawers.

Make do of your vertical space by filling in cabinets that ride up to the ceiling.

A wall hanging pinboard will help organize supplies that might otherwise end up shoved in a drawer or piled up on the desk.

Have You Heard of Smart Shelving?

The best home office setup for productivity is smart shelving which is is often overlooked when designing a home office interior.

To get started, make sure you include enough shelves for storage, cabinets, and cubicles for all your storage needs.

Don’t forget to neatly store your materials, especially if you use important manuals, catalogs, or reference books.

Place a floating shelf near your desk to keep them close at hand.

Organize Your Technology

Nothing makes a home office look or feel more out of place than wires hanging from the desk and scattered in every nook of the room.

In a basic home office set-up, you should take the reins of keeping your technology simple.

Here are a few tips to keep at hand: Opt for a wireless router. Settle for a wireless mouse and a printer.

If you have a desktop, use a grommet to keep the wires intact. Lastly, gather loose wires which are strewn on the floor and tie them together.
